February 2008 - "New Year New You"

I hope that you are all focusing on ways to make this a wonderful, productive and joy-filled year! The “New Year, New You” mini-workshops have been great and I’m looking forward to offering additional topics throughout the year. One idea I had came as a result of a daily message I received – it is a quote by Og Mandino. Right, I’ve never heard of him either, but the quote is right on!

“My days of whining and complaining about others have come to an end. Nothing is easier than fault-finding. All it will do is discolor my personality so that none will want to associate with me. That was my old life. No more.”

This quote is a great follow-up to one of the main topics I presented in “NYNY” – the effect of words. I believe that we all experience times when we are self-critical and use negative language to refer to ourselves that we would never use about others. “I’m so fat”, “I always make mistakes”, “I’m just not meant to….” That negative way of thinking becomes a major stumbling block for us. So, for this month, let’s try to switch the focus from negative to positive, especially about ourselves. It’s not a matter of being conceited, but rather practicing seeing the good in and around us. After all, it can’t hurt to show some love to yourself as well as to others.

Blessings to you,
