Well, the holidays have officially begun! I know for many of you that means shopping, planning parties, more shopping, and dealing with family. At times, even though we love our family members, there can be conflicts which can cause some stress when you get together. These can be simple disagreements as in who plans the family outings or who makes the best pumpkin pie. Other conflicts can be more agonizing, such as that cousin you haven’t spoken to because she hurt your child’s feelings at an event years ago. One of the ways to make sure that you enjoy the time with family and not get overly stressed is to practice excellent self-care. This time of year we are all more susceptible to colds and flu because of the close quarters we live and work in. Eating healthfully, taking your vitamins and getting some exercise will really help you maintain your energy. This is not the time to try to revamp your entire routine. Instead, when you are going to the mall or store, park a little farther away and get some walking in before you start shopping. Try to get three servings of fruits in every day to help build up your vitamin C. Go to bed early twice a week – an extra hour of sleep can work wonders on your mood and outlook. Most of all, don’t forget to pray – connecting with your source of power, love, and peace will help you to handle anything. |
